Happy New Year & Rachaelisms...

Well, we rung in the New Year at the hospital. Rachael is having new pain & numbness all the way down her leg again. Thankfully, after 2 MRIs and X-rays, they determined that there were no significant changes or trauma to her spinal cord, and after 16 hours we got to go home.

While the New Year didn't have the best start for us, (was we spent it in the hospital) we are positively gonna have a great year anyhow!

Rachael's pain has subsided, and she has regained the sensation in her leg back up to the knee- just as it's been since November 3rd. :)
We are still determined that she is going to continue to "wow" her docs by lightning speed tumor shrinkage, and be ready for that back surgery way ahead of schedule :)

I have a special treat- a couple of "Rachaelisms" for you to enjoy. ;-)

1) one night last week we were watching TV and she fell asleep. I woke her up to help her go to perform our routine to go to bed for the night. As she woke I told her she had been out cold, and just to be silly I started singing "Take me OUT to the ball game"... to which she replies..."Well take me right on over to the bench, lay me down and cover me up 'cause I'm going back to sleep." Ha! she's so funny!

2) at the hospital she was drifting in and out of sleep. When she gets really sleepy. she strokes her face and her hair (very adorable)- she has even fallen asleep with her arm still midair reaching for her hair! but anyway, that night at the hospital she was not only stroking her hair but her eyebrows. She had fallen asleep touching her brow, and Adam and I couldn't help but giggle. She woke up and we explained why we were laughing, to which she replied in her cute little sleepy high pitched voice, "what?, they needed caressing too!" TOO CUTE!

Have a marvelous first Monday of 2012! :)

  1. that is too cute!! I just noticed this weekend that she strokes her hair as she is falling asleep, I noticed it before... but this weekend I realized it is a ritual...so, when I just read this comment about the hospital "brow stroking"...it really cracked me up because I can actual picture it!!! I thought maybe it was because she was "fighting sleep" or trying to appear as if she is awake, and not "nodding" off.. lol. I always tell her "Rachael, just take a nap, it wont hurt my feelings...lay back and don't fight it..." so funny.
